I have an ESX 3.5 server and I'm aware there is no direct upgrade to ESXi 5.1, but I'm curious about my current volumes. I have one volume on my RAID array for the VMware OS and the other volume for the VM's. With the installation disk for 5.1, when I run the full install of 5.1 over my 3.5 which will format that drive, will it touch the other volume or not? In other words, do I need to copy/move my VM's to another source before upgrading?
